David De Gea set to stay at Man Utd as club prepare £350k-a-week five-year deal

MANCHESTER UNITED are back in talks with David De Gea — and confident of getting him to sign a new five-year deal.
An offer of around £300,000 a week has been on the table since the turn of the year.

Spanish keeper David De Gea could finally be closing on a new long-term Man Utd deal - after months of speculation
But United are ready to increase that to £350,000 a week to tempt the Spanish keeper to stay put.
That will be a huge increase on his current £200,000-a-week package — but still short of the staggering £505,000 a week that United flop Alexis Sanchez earns.
The offer will be for a four-year contract — with an option on the club’s side to trigger a further year.
De Gea’s current deal is up at the end of next season and the club’s Player of the Season for four of the last six years now wants to stay at United.
But he may delay tying himself to the club until he sees what business they do in this summer’s transfer market.
De Gea, 28, has been regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world yet has only one league title to his name — from Alex Ferguson’s final season in 2012-13.
His form has also suffered since the World Cup in Russia last summer.
De Gea’s confidence is understood to have been affected by the criticism he received in that campaign — as fancied Spain crashed out to the hosts in the last 16.
For United last season he made a number of uncharacteristic blunders, which turned off potential suitors Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
